Ethel F. Campbell, 100, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, with Pastor Randy McGrady-Beach officiating. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service from
9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday morning at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck.
Ethel was born July 1, 1905, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert Francis and Eva (Marshall) Shumway. Ethel graduated from Reinbeck High School and then furthered her education at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and Gates Business College in Waterloo. On October 20, 1928, Ethel was united in marriage to Gerald (Jiggs) Campbell in Colo, Iowa. They spent nearly all of their married life in Cedar Falls and Reinbeck, Iowa. During her early adulthood, Ethel worked at the bank in Reinbeck. She then worked for the Cedar Falls Recreation Department as a secretary, and also as a retail sales clerk at the Smart Shop in Cedar Falls. Ethel retired in 1976. Ethel's husband Gerald died in 1985.
Ethel enjoyed needlework of all kinds, such as tatting and crocheting. She was also an excellent seamstress.
She is survived by three daughters Jane Lowe and her husband Bill of Reinbeck; Carole Tollefson of Lancaster, California; and Kathleen Washington and her husband Claude of Reinbeck. Ethel is also survived by eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law Thelma Copley of Reinbeck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald in 1985; three sisters Hazel Allen, Betty Cooper, Florence Shumway; one brother Marshall Shumway; one son-in-law Dwight Tollefson; and one granddaughter Jeanne Holmes.
