Enola Bruns

August 28, 1934 — June 7, 2011

Enola M. Bruns, 76, of Dike, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Newaldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls while under the care of the Cedar Valley Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 10th from 4 to 7 pm at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Dike. Burial will follow funeral services at the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike.

Enola was born on August 28, 1934 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Gus & Esther Rindels. She graduated from Grundy Center High School. Enola was united in marriage to Raymond U. Bruns on December 6, 1957. They welcomed three children into their family. They made their home in rural Dike where Raymond farmed for over 40 years. Enola was a very active member in the Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was past President of the WELCA of Fredsville and Treasurer of the Martha Circle. Enola was also a member of the Fredsville Ladies Serving Group. Her true joy was spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Enola is survived by her daughter Tammi (Charles) Chandler of Gallatin, TN, sons David Bruns of Waterloo and Dale (Christine) Bruns of Dike; her grandchildren Michael, Sarah & Samantha Chandler and Brooke, Morgan & McKaila Bruns; her brothers Eldon & Harold Rindels; sisters Caroline Gibson, Verna Rae Clark, Gladys Ann Korpi and Arlys Mast; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond and brothers Irvin & Roger Rindels.
