Emma O. Walters, 94, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock with Pastor Bruce Baillie officiating. Burial will follow in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Emma was born June 30, 1910, in Wellsburg, Iowa, daughter of Claus and Dena (Terfehn) Harrenstein. She attended school in Wellsburg and on January 4, 1934 was united in marriage to Harry Williams in Wellsburg. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Steamboat Rock. Harry died in 1964 and Emma then married Herman Walters in 1979. They resided in Parkersburg until Herman's death in 1988 when Emma moved to Eldora. She worked as a telephone operator for 25 years and at Plastronics Inc. in Grundy Center for 10 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock and at the time of her death was the oldest member of the congregation. Emma enjoyed playing cards and doing needle work.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Carol) Williams of Grundy Center; daughter, Sandra (Gregg) Reisinger of Eldora; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Preceding her in death were her husbands, Harry and Herman.
