Elsie Kruger, 97, of Holland, Iowa, died Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.
Elsie (Harrenstein) Kruger was born February 27, 1910 in Colfax Township, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Altje Harrenstein. Elsie attended Colfax #2 School. Elsie married Klaas Kruger on December 14, 1933 at Klaas's parent's home in Colfax Township. To this union brought forth five children, Eldon, Clarice, Bernita, Karen and Jean. Elsie was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church and the Women in Church Group. Elsie loved to cook, bake cookies, watch Perry Mason and Matlock shows. There was coffee always on for friends and neighbors to stop by and visit. Most of all she loved to spend time with family and friends.
Elsie is survived by her one son Eldon (Linda) Kruger of Holland: three daughters, Bernita(Richard) Lamfers of Grundy Center; Karen Kruger of Holland: Jean (Kevin) Ralston of Grundy Center; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Grace (Alvin) Harrenstein of Grundy Center; and brother-in-law Bernerd(Carrie) Kruger of Holland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter Clarice; eight brothers, Herman, Jacob, Omke, Ben, Klaas, Bert, Alvin, Edwin, three sisters, Kate, Ora, Jennie; and seven step sisters and brothers.
