Elsie Margaret Kiewiet, 86, of Grundy Center, died from natural causes on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.
Elsie was born October 9, 1919, in Grundy County, Iowa, daughter of John and Anna (DeVooged) Penning. She was raised and educated in rural Grundy County. On December 1, 1937 she was united in marriage to Jacob Arthur Kiewiet in Grundy Center, Iowa. Elsie worked as a waitress at the Grill CafAsh in Grundy Center for years. She was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church. Elsie enjoyed her grandchildren and their recreations. She was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. She also enjoyed camping and vacationing in Clear Lake, Iowa, and cruising.
Surviving is her three sons and their wives: Calvin and wife Sandy Kiewiet of Grundy Center, Roger and wife Vicky Kiewiet of Morrison, Iowa, and Kenny and wife Mary Kiewiet of Grundy Center; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Jake Kiewiet; a great grandson: Jacob Meester; brother: Vernon Penning; and a sister: Minerdena Grimmius.
