Elmer Kliege, 89, of Aplington, Iowa passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2005, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, of natural causes. Visitation will be held on Sunday February 6, 2005 from 2:00 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. at the Engelkes ? Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Graveside Services will immediately follow the visitation at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa. Pastor David Powers will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the Aplington ? Elmer was born on November 28, 1915, on the family farm north of Parkersburg, Iowa. He was the son of John E. and Phena (Rottink) Kliege. Elmer attended country school. Elmer worked for the Grundy County Landfill for many years. Elmer enjoyed collecting various items that he would purchase at auctions. He also really enjoyed fishing and was good at it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother: Ernest Kliege.
Survivors include his brother: Johnnie and his wife Jeanette Kliege of Parkersburg, Iowa; a sister ? in ? law: Esther Kliege of Stout; and four nieces.
