Ellen Joan Aswegan, 82, Arbor Lakes, Fla., died May 6, 2013, under the loving care of Hospice of Citrus County and dear friends.
Ellen was born Jan. 8, 1931, in New Sharon, Iowa, to the late Josiah Earl and Lillian (Mulford) Scott. She was employed by Crosley Farm Store in Eldora, Iowa, for many years. She was a homemaker who was also an excellent fisherwoman, catching many different species of fish throughout the country.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Leroy Aswegan; nephew Charles (Phyllis) Frazer, nieces Sherrill Snider and Sandy (Phil) Duncan, all of Texas, as well as many other nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Floyd Aswegan, Grandview Home, Marshalltown, Iowa; special friends Joe and Ronnie Wilhelmy, Beverly Hills, Fla., and their children Tim (Kendra) Wilhelmy, Fla., and Ann (Roger) Stawski, Minn. She was a special grandmother to their grandchildren, Jack, Taylor and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her sister Mildred (Harold) Frazer and brother Leonard "Bud" (Glee) Scott.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at First Congregational Church in Eldora, Iowa, with the Rev. Cory Larson officiating. A light lunch will be served following the service in the fellowship hall. Memorial donations in Ellen's memory may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, Florida, the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
