Ella "Edie" McNamara, 56, of Waterloo, formerly of Grundy Center, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, May 30, 2014 at her daughter's home in Grundy Center while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, 16 5th St. NW, Oelwein, Iowa 50662.
Edie was born on July 28, 1957 in Compton, California, the daughter of Norman & Dawn (Pike) McCormack. She was raised in California for several years before moving to Waterloo with her family. She later relocated to Grundy Center where she raised her three daughters. Edie was united in marriage to Larry McNamara on June 22, 1979 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple later divorced.
She was a member of the NRA and was very passionate about people's right to bear arms. Edie enjoyed fishing, dancing and playing pool, where she played on many pool leagues, most recently on a team with The Jet Lounge in Waterloo. What was most important in life to Edie was her family. She loved spending time with her 9 beautiful grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Edie is survived by her daughters Dawn Reagan (Ryan Stahl) of Oelwein, IA, Sarah McNamara (Donny Fairbanks) of Grundy Center & Cindi McNamara (Dustin Schroeder) of Grundy Center; companion of 20 + years, Tony Klemz; step-children Brooke Klemz and Braden & Lindsey Fintel; 9 grandchildren Talon, Madelyn & Lauren Reagan, Abena, Brody, Jesse, Carter & Nevaeh Mackie and Somara Wolf; brothers Russell Rosenberg, Danny McCormack, Gregg McCormack, Kevin "Archie" McCormack & Dean Staton. She was preceded in death by her parents; special friend Cindy Kerns.
