Eleanor Marie Dahms, age 94, of Reinbeck, Iowa passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice at the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at French Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, Iowa. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery rural Gladbrook. Visitation will be 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. at French Hand Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Parkview Manor and Cedar Valley Hospice in Eleanor's name.
Eleanor Marie Zmolek was born on August 4, 1918 in Buckingham, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Sophie (Chalupnick) Zmolek. Eleanor grew up in Tama County and attended schools in Toledo and Traer, Iowa. Eleanor married Harold John Ohrt on November 21, 1934 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They later divorced. She married Donald Harry Dahms on November 19, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Donald and Eleanor farmed north of Gladbrook until 1990 when they built a house and lived in Reinbeck. While living on the farm Eleanor raised and sold chickens. Donald died in April 1994. Eleanor worked at Parkview Manor for several years.
She is survived by a nephew Allyn Plambeck of Pennsylvania.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Frank and Sophie Zmolek and a 3 day old sister, Blanche Zmolek.
