Edgar "Beaver" Henricks, 89, of Reinbeck, Iowa died Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. Burial will be in the Reinbeck Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #242 of Reinbeck. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. at French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Edgar Dale Henricks, son of Elke and Mary Sparenborg Henricks was born on August 17, 1927 in rural Grundy County, Iowa. He attended country schools in the area. Beaver began farming with his father, and later moved to his father's farm near Reinbeck. On October 12, 1950, he married Marietta Aalfs at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. In November of 1950, he entered the U.S. Army where he honorably served in the Korean War until his discharge in August of 1952. Following his discharge, he continued farming and was owner and operator of Eager Beaver Trucking Company for over 50 years. Beaver loved to raise cattle and also enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his daughter, Darla (Jerry) Huisman of Grundy Center, IA; sons, Murray (Lori) Henricks of Clinton, IA, Jeff (Teresa) Henricks of Reinbeck, IA; grandchildren, Jesse (Crystal) Huisman of Grundy Center, IA, Nickolas (Kate) Huisman of Iowa Falls, IA, Kelsee (Garrett) Hove of West Des Moines, IA, Beth (Scott) Schellhorn of Tripola, IA, Jennifer Henricks of Waterloo, IA, Alex (fiancé Chelsea) Henricks of Reinbeck, IA, Holly Henricks of Davenport, IA, Jamie Henricks of Clinton, IA, Murray Henricks, Jr. also of Clinton, IA; six great grandchildren; brother, Harold (Mattie) Henricks of Grundy Center, IA; and special friend Lou Ehrig of Grundy Center, IA.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Marietta Henricks; his great grandson, Grant Schellhorn; sisters, Eloise Brandt and Mary Meester and brothers, Ronnie and Elmer Henricks.
