Duane Kenneth Lloyd, 74, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Sunday, May 3, 2009 while staying with his daughter and son-in-law in Sparks , Oklahoma and under the care of Valair Hospice. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Friday, May 8, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church in Union , Iowa with Pastor Roger Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldora City Cemetery . Visitation is from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church or the Hospice of your choice.





Duane was born April 18, 1935 in Eldora, son of William Arley and Mamie (Young) Lloyd. He graduated from Eldora High School in 1953 and on July 1, 1953 was united in marriage to Rosemary Lyon. They made their home on a farm south of Union and in 1974 moved back to the family farm, where he was raised, south of Eldora. He farmed for several years then sold Moorman’s Feeds before driving a charter bus for Marshall Coaches of Marshalltown . He later developed Duane Lloyd Tour Company.





He was a 55 year member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as song leader and choir director for many years. Duane also served with the National Guard for eight years and enjoyed singing with the Marshalltones Barbershop Chorus.





He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; son, Dean Lloyd and his wife Rose of Sulphur, Oklahoma; daughter, Cindy and her husband Don Schoenecke of Sparks, Oklahoma; sister, Pauline Trout of Moravia, Iowa; brother, Harold (Mildred) Lloyd of Gifford, Iowa; grandchildren, Sarah and Brent Schoenecke and Shawn and J.R. (Terri) Lloyd; and great-grandchildren, Rosie, Cyrus, and Jessica Schoenecke, and Mekena and Brandon Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Gayle and Vernon Lloyd; half-brothers, Gerald, Coye and Floyd Lloyd; and half-sister, Lena Crosser.
