Dr. Wouter Hendrik Verduyn, 83, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Sunrise Care Center in Traer, Iowa, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Dr. Verduyn donated his body to the University of Iowa for medical research. A celebration of his Life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice.
Wouter Henrik was born on October 12, 1931, in Hague, Netherlands, the son of Hendrik and Helena (Pander) Verduyn. He was raised in the Netherlands and attended schools there. He then attended Medical school in the Netherlands. He moved to Iowa in 1960 and did his internship in Des Moines. In 1961, Dr. Verduyn started his Family practice in Reinbeck. He was united in marriage Connie Sager on September 24, 1964 they later divorced and then remarried on July 1, 2001. They made Reinbeck their home. Dr. Verduyn spent from 1966 to 1967 doing a fellowship in Denver, Colorado. Upon his return he started the Rehabilitation program for Head and Spinal Injuries at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, IA. He enjoyed running and bike riding especially participating on Ragbrai.
Dr. Verduyn is survived by his wife Connie, of Reinbeck; children, Norbert (Terri) Verduyn of Fargo, ND, Jerome (Carolyn) Verduyn of McMinnville, OR, Sebastian Verduyn, Brian Verduyn and Andrea Munoz all of Des Moines. Jeremy Miller-Verduyn of Waterloo; son-in-law Scott Jamieson of Cooper, ME; 14 grandchildren;4 great- grandchildren; brother, Bert Verduyn of Netherland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Henk and daughter Lieselotte.
