Dr. Douglas L. Reece, 73, passed away September 29th, 2015 in Jackson, Michigan. Funeral services will be held October 10, 2015 at the Honey Creek Friends Country Church in New Providence, Iowa. Visitation starts at 11 a.m. and the funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at the Honey Creek Cemetery. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora assisted the family with arrangements.
Douglas was born January 26, 1942 to Annabel (Cobb) and Leland Reece in Independence, Iowa. Douglas graduated from New Providence High School in 1960 before going on to Bakersfield College in California to get his Associates in 1962. He continued on to Stanford University, studying abroad in Germany and traveling throughout Europe. He graduated from Stanford in 1964 with his Bachelors in Psychology and Pre-med. In 1965 Douglas briefly taught German and Math at Lincoln High School in Stanwood before going on to Drake University to obtain his Masters in Psychology. Doug then went to Des Moines University and graduated with his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. Doug practiced medicine in Saginaw and Houghton Lake, Michigan, as well as Petersburg, Lubbock, and McAllen, Texas before retiring in 2005. Doug was involved in several missionary trips to Guatemala, Honduras and Ecuador while he lived in Texas.
Doug is survived by his brother Ken (Karen) and his sister Laura (Tim). He is also survived by seven children: Jonathan (Sandra), David (Heather), Jessica, Douglas Jr., Christopher, Brandon and Kendra. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Cole, Kynsey, and Alicia. Trynyti and Jenyka.
