Dorothy A. Schwebke Schultz, 92, of Eldora, died on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Visitation is from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, October 21 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Dorothy was born July 3, 1921 in Centerville, Missouri, daughter of Samuel and Frances (Mayfield) Lawson. She moved with her family to the Alden and Buckeye, Iowa area as a young girl and attended school in Buckeye. On December 21, 1936 she was united in marriage to Dale F. Schwebke and to this union were born Roger, Ronald, Patricia and Rick. They moved to California in 1969 and Dale passed away on August 22, 1981. After Dale's death Dorothy moved to New Providence, Iowa and she was then united in marriage to Herman "Jim" Schultz. They made their home in Eldora. Jim died on November 6, 2007.
Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora and the Red Hat Ladies. Dorothy took college level art classes for 2 years and used her artistic talents painting and doing needlework. She also enjoyed flower gardening, square dancing, playing cards, and fishing and camping. The love of her life was her family and grandchildren who all claim she made the best angel food cakes.
She is survived by children, Ronald (Sandie) Schwebke of Des Moines, Patricia (Denny) McKenna of Eldora and Rick (Laura) Schwebke of Lancaster, California; step-children, Lola (Walter) Reinert of Hubbard and Maxine (Max) Daleske of Eldora; 9 grand-children, Steve, Cindy, Devin, Donna, Stephanie, Kim, Bryan, Teresa and Christopher;16 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren and; 7 step-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barbara Schwebke of Quartz Hill, California, and sister-in-law, Almeda Lawson of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands; son, Roger Schwebke; great-granddaughter, Brandi Schwebke; brothers, Raymond, Floyd and Lloyd "Dutch" Lawson; and sisters, Irene Tomes, Marie Peterson, Doris Novak and Kathy Rush.
