Dorothy Ruppelt

February 18, 1910 — July 17, 2006

Dorothy Louise (Slifer) Ruppelt, 96, of Steamboat Rock, died Sunday July 17, 2006 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls under the care of the North Iowa Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, July 21, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Steamboat Rock with Pastor Harrison Lippert officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the church. Burial will follow in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Dorothy?s family.



Dorothy was born February 18, 1910 in Grundy Center, Iowa to Ed and Kate (Johnson) Slifer. Dorothy graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1927. She then attended the Grundy Center College and became a teacher at a country school near New Hartford, Iowa. In July of 1935 she was united in marriage to Carl Eldon Ruppelt in the Baptist church in Grundy Center. Dorothy and Carl moved to High Hat Kentucky where they served as missionaries for 38 A� years. Dorothy taught Sunday school, Bible School, music and played the piano at services throughout their years of service. Dorothy was a member of the Grundy Center and later the Steamboat Rock Baptist Church, where she was active in the Dorcas Society until her health prevented her participation. Dorothy devoted her life to serving the Lord and caring for her family,



Surviving is her son Eldon Frank Ruppelt of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, many nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant sons, her son Paul David, her parents, and her brothers Bliss, Asa, Ray and Arthur Slifer and sisters: Edna Thoren and Irma Peters.
