Dorothy "Dot" Mumm, 93, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Friday, December 28, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Following cremation, Memorial Services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 31, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Terry Plocher officiating. Burial will occur at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, December 30, 2007, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Dorothy was born December 17, 1914, in Rowley, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Mae (Livingston) Donlea. She received her education in Winthrop, graduating from the Winthrop Community School in 1932. While in Winthrop, she owned a restaurant there. She married Wilmer Schuman and they were later divorced. On June 2, 1956, Dot was united in marriage to Leonard Mumm at the United Methodist in Winthrop. After their marriage they moved to Voorhies and she helped to open Orries Supper Club there. Dot also worked at Parkview Manor Nursing Home for eight years. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck, participating as a member of the Faith Circle. She was an excellent cook, and a very talented quilter, making many quilts for family members. Dot enjoyed decorating for the seasons and was also a member of the Clover Leaf Club. Dot loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Leonard Mumm of Reinbeck, Iowa; two sons-Norris Schuman and his wife Mary of Reinbeck; Jon Schuman of Santa Ysabel, California; four daughters-Debra Robertson and her husband Steve of Reinbeck; Carolyn Ballard and her husband Doug of Reinbeck; Mari Bean and her friend Rick of Waterloo, Iowa; Cathy Schabacker and her husband Rodney of Winthrop, Iowa; two step-daughters- Kathy Gaskins and her husband David of Roseville, California; Linda Breault and her husband Chuck of Twin Falls, Idaho; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; one sister Catherine Allyn of Greeley, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Jimmy Schuman; one granddaughter-L.W. Ballard; and five brothers.
