Dorothy Mastain

Dorothy (Dort) Mastain, 74, of Hudson, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008 in LaGrange, Indiana. Dorothy was born July 3, 1934 in Grundy County the daughter of Ray and Delia (Koch) Malcomson. She attended school in the Reinbeck area and graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1952. Dort was a member of the 1952 Iowa Girls High School State Basketball Championship Team. On April 11, 1954, Dorothy married Ron Mastain at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. Dort worked 48 years for Lincoln Savings in Reinbeck, retiring in 2000. She loved to entertain her friends very regularly at her home. Flowers and gardening were pastime hobbies; she was known to have some of the best pickles around. Dort was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck. She would host the church circle Christmas gathering each year. She was a member of the Birthday Secret Pal Club for 35 years. She and four other members of the 1952 State Girls Championship team know as the "Big Five" would still get together every other month to have lunch and visit. Dort is survived by her husband; Ron of Hudson and an aunt; Eleanor Koch of Reinbeck. She was preceded in death by her parents.
