Doris Davidson

Doris Jean Davidson, 78, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Friday, December 17, 2004, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa, from complications due to Parkinsons disease, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 20, 2004, at Ivester Church of the Brethren, rural Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastors Timothy Button-Harrison and Mary Jane Button-Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Sheller Cemetery, rural Grundy Center, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday, December 19, 2004, from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. The family will be present the entire time to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to Ivester Church of the Brethren and Cedar Valley Hospice. Doris was born April 7, 1926, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Gerald and Laura (Burkett) Munn. Doris was united in marriage to Victor Roslyn Davidson on October 20, 1945. He died on March 4, 2000.

Doris graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in Lansing, Michigan, and attended Lansing Business School. She was employed by R.E.O. Oldsmobile Co. in Lansing, until her marriage to Victor. They moved to rural Grundy Center to farm in April 1956. Doris was a housewife, a loving mother and grandmother, an avid gardener, and talented pianist who loved life, laughter, and people. She was an active member of Ivester Church of the Brethren and the Palermo Township Women's Club for many years.

She is survived by a son Roger Davidson and his fiancAshe Sharon Meyer of Harlan, Iowa; a daughter Vicki and her husband Jim Miller of Newton, Iowa; a son Donald Davidson and his wife Sharon of rural Grundy Center, Iowa; five grandchildren: Donnie, Brian, Courtney, Kristen, and Ryan Davidson; one brother Donald Munn and his wife Eunice of Middlebury, Indiana; and one brother-in-law Gordon Davidson and his wife Evelyn of Conrad, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Victor, and an infant grandson Daniel Davidson.
