Donna Jean Rust, 68 of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away March 14, 2011 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center Iowa while under the care of Iowa Hospice. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 18th at 10:30 am at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church with Pastors Larry Hoop and Larry Doughan officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17th from 6 to 8 pm at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Burial will follow funeral services at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa.
Donna was born on July 7, 1942 in Hartwick, Iowa to her parents Wallace and Margaret (Bradford) Smith. Her family moved to Dike, Iowa where she attended school and graduated from Dike High School in 1960. On June 4th, 1960, she married Ronald Rust. Donna and Ron started their married life in Holland, Iowa. The couple welcomed three sons. Their jobs had transferred them to several different communities including Waterloo and Chicago. Donna moved back to Grundy Center in the spring of 1997, after Ron had passed away.
Donna was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed cooking, family game night and playing cards and she especially loved spending time with her family.
Donna is survived by her sons Brent Rust of Grundy Center, IA, Brian Rust of Grundy Center, IA and Bradly (Chrissy) Rust of Broken Arrow, OK; 6 grandchildren; sisters Darlene (Joseph) Kopplin of Jesup, IA, Dorene (Richard) Whitman of Cathedral City, CA and Delores (Gary) Ennenga of Beaman, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ronald; a special friend Don Stahl.
