Donna R. Huisman, 67, of Wellsburg, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 10:30 A.M. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg, IA with Pastor Todd Rempe officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 12 th from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church, Wellsburg. Interment will follow funeral services at the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery.




Donna was born on October 9, 1942 in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred (Cakerice) Newell. She grew up in rural Wellsburg and attended the Eldora school system, transferring to the Wellsburg schools in junior high. Donna graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1960, and went on to receive her 2 year business degree from the UNI Teaching College in 1962. On October 12, 1963, Donna married her high school sweetheart Norman Huisman at the Methodist church in Eldora. Donna and Norman lived in Wellsburg from the time they were married in 1963 until they moved to her family’s farm in 1982 south of Wellsburg. The couple has remained there ever since.




Donna enjoyed working on the farm, traveling, spending time with her cousins, reading and gardening. She most enjoyed being with her husband, family and grandchildren. She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church.




She is survived by her husband Norman of 46 years of Wellsburg; sons Eric (Karla) Huisman of rural Wellsburg and Andy (Carrie Coffman) Huisman of Wellsburg; 2 grandchildren Kory & Kenzie Huisman; sister Darla (Richard) Bebo of Canby, Oregon.




Donna was preceded in death by her parents.
