Donald Henningsen, 84, of rural Beaman, Iowa, died Monday, October, 17, 2005, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, Iowa. Funeral services will be
2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 20, 2005, at the Salem Church of Lincoln, in Lincoln, Iowa, with Pastor Wade Ditty officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, rural Gladbrook, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19, 2005, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa, where the family will be present the entire time to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.
Donald was born November 17, 1920, in rural Beaman, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Hilda (Wegner) Henningsen. He attended Clay No. 1 Country School and graduated from Beaman High School. After high school, he attended college in Marshalltown, and then entered the service. Donald was called home to farm because his father was very ill. On March 26, 1950, Donald was united in marriage to Betty Corbin at First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, Iowa. After their marriage, Donald continued to farm until retirement. Donald was born, raised, and also raised his family on the family farm outside of Beaman.
He was a member of the Salem Church of Lincoln, the Beaman AMVETS, and a former member of the Grundy County Farm Bureau Board. Family was always very important to Donald.
He is survived by his wife Betty Henningsen of rural Beaman, Iowa; two daughters Janice Cupit and her husband Herb of Lebanon, Missouri; Donna Guard and her husband Ray of Radcliffe, Iowa; three sons Harold Henningsen and his wife Deb of Grundy Center, Iowa; Larry Henningsen of Grundy Center, Iowa; and Craig Henningsen and his wife Dodie of Independence, Iowa; and thirteen grandchildren- Lora (Cupit) Knight, Mark & Karen Cupit; Ryan Guard & Abby (Guard) Patterson; Alan & Todd Henningsen; Zach & Blake Henningsen; and Alex, Corbin,Chloe, and Claudia Henningsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Hilda Henningsen, and his sister Ruth Seeman.
