Donald L. "Brownie" Brown, 84 of Eldora passed away on Friday, November 9, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Following cremation private graveside services will be held on Tuesday at the Eldora City Cemetery with Pastor Corey Larson of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora officiating. Donald was born February 8, 1923 in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Evelyn Critz Brown. He graduated from St. Mary's High School of Iowa City in 1940 and then served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was united in marriage to Opal Dunn of Eldora on May 9, 1948. Donald retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and enjoyed playing golf, serving on the Eldora Fire Department and traveling.
Don is survived by his wife, Opal and preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn. Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora or the Eldora Fire Department.
