Dolores Catherine Main (81) of Denver, Iowa, passed away on May 14th, 2016, under the aid of Care Initiatives Hospice. No public services are planned at this time. Dolores Catherine Beninga was born to Herman and Jenny (Schaffer) Beninga on March 5th, 1935, on the family farm in Stout, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area graduating from Dike High School with the class of 1953. On August 31st, 1958, Dolores and Donald Main were united in marriage at the Lincoln Center Church, in Grundy Center Iowa. Dolores furthered her education at the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, obtaining her teachers certificate. She would go on to teach 2nd grade for Elkrun Heights elementary and Dunkerton elementary, until her retirement in 1988.
The two would take up residence in Cedar Falls, Elkrun Heights, Alaska and for a time, Florida. The two would eventually settle in Denver, Iowa, in 1977. Dolores loved her flower garden, traveling with Don to France, England and Scotland. She also loved shopping and baking. Dolores was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Cedar Falls, where she played the organ every Sunday for 35 years.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Donald Main, children; Darla (Craig) Schneider, Debra (Larry) VanderLinden, sister; Marge Bergsma, grandchildren; Robert (Michelle) Bertram, Joshua (Jessica) Bertram, Nathan (Jessica) Bertram, Rachel (Craig) Haugh, and 10 great-grandchildren.
In death, Dolores rejoins her parents; Herman and Jenny (Schaffer) Beninga, brothers; Bernard (Betty) and Harlan Beninga.
