Dennis Carl Granzow, 65, of Eldora, Iowa, died Friday, April 20, 2007, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Garden Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, April 23, 2007, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Dennis Carl Granzow was born July 31, 1941, in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Carl Herman and Louise Florence Marie (Steinfeldt) Granzow. He graduated from Eldora High School in 1959. On September 9, 1962, he was united in marriage to Susan Kaye Hoffman. They later divorced. He lived in Hubbard, Iowa from 1962 until 1998, when he moved back to Eldora. Dennis farmed and was a carpenter. He also owned and operated a restaurant in Eldora. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, the Eldora Jaycees and American Legion. Dennis enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball, golf and playing cards.
He is survived by his 5 daughters: Kelley and Scott Balvanz of Eldora, Iowa, Chandra and Dan Kyte of Eldora, Iowa, Donylle and Norm Houston of Eldora, Iowa, Stephanie and Dan Hoopes of Liberty, Missouri, and Kortney and Justin Jaenke of Iowa Falls, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Carla and Elroy Nelson of Branson, Missouri, and Barb and Jerry Short of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; and a brother David and Polly Granzow of Eldora, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
