Delmar A. Hayden, 81, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora while under the care of Amenity Hospice. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Eldora United Methodist Church in Eldora, Iowa with Pastor Corey Larson of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery with military honors provided by Walter-Sayer Post 182 of the American Legion and Roll-Harless Post 3974 of the VFW. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Delmar was born October 19, 1923, in Eldora, son of Clifford and Pauline (Krumling) Hayden. He graduated from Eldora High School in 1942 then served with the U.S. Army during WWII from February of 1945 until November of 1946. On April 5, 1958 he was united in marriage to Ruth Kitzman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Delmar worked at the Gra-Iron Foundry in Marshalltown for 18 years prior to farming northwest of Eldora for 19 years. He retired in 1986. He was a fourth generation Hardin County Resident and was a member of Hardin County's Seventy-Five Year Club. He was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church, Walter-Sayer Post 182 of the American Legion, and Roll-Harless Post 3974 of the VFW.
Surviving is Delmar's wife, Ruth; daughters, Cynthia (Dennis) Diemer of Ackley, Diane Hayden of Iowa Falls, and Kim (Todd) Matthews of Denver, Colorado; and grandchildren, Amy and Melissa Diemer, and Cole Matthews. Preceding him in death were his parents.
