Delmar G. Garr, 67, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 17, 2006 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with Pastor Corey Larson officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 6:00 pm to 8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
Delmar was born May 31, 1939, in Centerville, Iowa, son of William and Hazel (Miller) Garr. He was raised in Rockford, Illinois and Union, Iowa, eventually making his home in the Union and New Providence area. On December 23, 1960 Delmar was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Gibson at the Liberty Friends Church in Bangor and they moved to Eldora in 1963.
Delmar did many things during his life and had many talents including, carpentry, wiring, and mechanics. He was self-employed as a grain dealer for thirty years and had worked for United Suppliers as a truck driver the past two years. In his younger years he enjoyed drag-racing and tractor pulling.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Linda Garr of Ackley; son, Scott of Eldora; granddaughter, Leslie Garr of Eldora; great grandchildren, Alyssa and Madison Stille; and sisters, Barbara Eiserman and her husband Calvin of Hubbard and Helen Hessen of Osceola. Preceding him in death was his parents; sister, Velma Williams; and nieces, Julie and Merilene Williams.
