Delbert "Bob" Ross, 84, of Wellsburg, Iowa died Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Wellsburg Reformed Church with Pastor Mark Andersen officiating. Burial will follow in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Wellsburg AMVETS Post #91 and American Legion Post #213 of Wellsburg. A visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg, Iowa and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Delbert Dean Ross, son of Sam and Dena (Getting) Ross was born near Holland, Iowa on December 19, 1930. Bob graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1949. Following graduation he started working for JW Ross Road Construction. He married Wilma Marie Ringena, September 26, 1951 at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. The couple made their home in Wellsburg for the next 64 years. Bob joined the United States Marine Corp in 1952 and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge Bob returned home and began working for Marshall Manufacturing in Marshalltown, IA. Bob began farming south of town in 1958, he farmed for 37 years until his retirement. Bob was a member of AMVETS Post #91, Wellsburg Reformed Church, in which he was a consistory member, Volunteer on the Wellsburg Fire Department and the Community Club. Bob enjoyed singing with the interfaith mens chorus and friends quartet, golfing, fishing, hunting, trapping, playing pool, dancing and riding his motorcycle. Bob truly enjoyed life and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Wilma of Wellsburg, IA; children Lynne Ross (Tony Collins) of Denver, CO; Bradley (Tammi) Ross of Wellsburg, IA; Sara (Glenn) Winkowitsch of Wellsburg, IA; Eric (Sherri) Ross of Eldora, IA. Grandchildren Zachary, Ashley, Dylan, Levi, Dana, Adam, Chad, Cherish, Megan and six great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Sam Ross, sister Yvonne Sietsma, brother Donald Ross and great grandson Emmett.
