Delbert J. Lindaman, 84, of Wellsburg, Iowa, died Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 11, 2006, at East Friesland Presbyterian Church, rural Ackley, Iowa, with Pastor Bruce Baillie and Lay Pastor Lynn Arends officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. Visitation will be Sunday, December 10, 2006, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg. Visitation will also be Monday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. The family will be present on Sunday evening to greet friends at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Delbert was born August 22, 1922, at home in rural Wellsburg, Iowa, the son of John J. and Mae (Finger) Lindaman. Delbert attended country school in both rural Aplington and Wellsburg. He then attended Wellsburg High School. On November 27, 1942, Delbert was united in marriage to Florence V. Doyen at the Second Christian Reformed Church Parsonage in Wellsburg. After their marriage, Delbert worked for the Henry Hippen Auto and Oil Company in Wellsburg for several years. In 1950, Delbert began working at the Doyen Furniture and Appliance Store in Wellsburg, and later became a partner. He worked at the store until his retirement in 1975. Delbert's wife Florence died on October 3, 2004, and he continued to make Wellsburg his home. Delbert was a member of East Friesland Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon and an elder. He enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by two sons David Lindaman and his wife Lorraine of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Merrill Lindaman of Wellsburg, Iowa; two grandchildren Brent Lindaman of Chicago, Illinois; and Kendra Lindaman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one sister Darlene Arends and her husband Glen of Parkersburg, Iowa; one sister-in-law Myrle Lindaman of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and one brother-in-law Elwood Doyen and his wife Vaneda of Wellsburg, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Florence in 2004; and one brother Lloyd Lindaman.
