Delbert Clarke was born on April 10, 1918 in Brokenbow, Nebraska, son of Allan and Carrie (Hutchinson) Clarke. He grew up and attended school in Nebraska. In the late, 1930?s, Delbert moved with his brothers to the Reinbeck area to work for area farmers. While working at an area farm, Delbert met Lorraine Witt. On November 22, 1942, Delbert was united in marriage to Lorraine. Together, they farmed near Hudson, IA. Delbert retired from farming in 1969 and he began working at the canning factory in Reinbeck. After his retirement from the factory, Delbert worked various jobs in the area. Lorraine died on July 6, 2001.
Delbert was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. He was also a member of the ?Gang?. He loved playing cards, attending dances and taking drives in the area. Delbert enjoyed woodworking and was an avid gardener and toy collector.
Surviving relatives include one son, Randy (Jodee) Clarke of Reinbeck, Karen (Gordon) Weichers of Steamboat Rock, IA; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Clarke of Aberdeen, NC; one sister, Neola Johnson; two brothers, Eldon and Harold Clarke; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; one son, Clinton Clarke; three brothers, Joel, Floyd and Dale Clarke.
