Dean Royal Middleton, 84 of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital of natural causes. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center with Pastor Mike Campbell officiating. Burial will be held privately by the family. A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the memorial service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Dean was born on February 2, 1927 in Grundy Center, the son of Arnett and Grace (Kitzman) Middleton. Dean graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1945. He was drafted into the Army in November of 1950 and served as a PX manager in Yokahama, Japan during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952.
Dean was joined in marriage to Joyce Kuhl at Peace Evangelical Church in Gladbrook, Iowa on December 7, 1952. He farmed for 45 years in Grundy Center. Dean drove school bus for the Grundy Community School District for many years and worked at Turner International Farm Store during the winter months. He also had his own electronic communications business, Royal Eagle Sales and Service. His greatest joy was being on the farm and out in his shop fixing or modifying farm machinery.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; daughters Connie Middleton of Ames, IA, Donna (Curt) Ramundt of Grundy Center, IA and Ann (Billy) Carter of Davenport, IA; grandchildren Nicholas Carter of Denver, IA, Jessica (Ryan) Patrick of Grundy Center, IA, Casey Carter of Lisle, IL and Bradley (Stacie) Ramundt of Waterloo, IA; great grandchildren Gabrielle, Olivia and Katie Patrick and Hunter Ramundt; brother Arnett (Mary) Middleton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert and nephew Curtis.
