David Albert Herman, 66, of Holland passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 21, 2022, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 6th, 1956, in Waterloo to Albert and Virginia Herman.  At 17, David joined the Marines serving from 1973-1977.  He was stationed in Twentynine Palms California and Camp Lejeune North Carolina.  After leaving the Marines, David received his welder certificate from Hawkeye Community College and worked for Push Inc for 25 years where he traveled around the Midwest trenching.  He enjoyed spending his free time fishing with his brothers and riding his motorcycle.

David married Wendy Stevens in an intimate ceremony with family on October 25th, 2014.  They spent their days in Holland watching old western movies and laughing at David’s sarcastic humor.  Together they had a mutual love for animals.  It wasn’t uncommon for their home to have one or more adopted dogs from the animal shelter.  In his final days, David enjoyed spending most of his time with his newest adopted dog Cy.  He never went anywhere without his baby Cy.
