David L. Clubine, 90, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April, 18, 2017 at his home in Reinbeck. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Inurnment will be held privately at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Dave was born on August 26, 1926 in Iowa. He was the son of Leslie and Jennie Clubine. He was raised in the Independence area and graduated from the Independence High School. He then earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from UNI. Dave was proud to have served in the United States Armed Forces. He worked for over 25 years as both a high school teacher and a coach. He was very proud to be a coach of girls basketball, boys and girls golf as well as a baseball coach. He retired from teaching and coaching in 1984.
Dave was united in marriage to Doris King and together they welcomed four children into their family. He was a very active member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ. There he served the church in a variety of capacities. Dave loved the time he spent at his cabin at Otter Tail Lake in Minnesota. His true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dave is survived by his daughter Debra Lau of Reinbeck; his sons David Clubine of Lincoln, Dennis (Diana) Clubine of Hudson and Don (Sue) Clubine of Cedar Falls; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris and his sister Eldora Dennis.
