Funeral services for Darlene E. Evans, 84, of Bettendorf, IA, formerly of Steamboat Rock, IA, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, IA. Interment will be in Steamboat Rock Cemetery, Steamboat Rock, IA. Mrs. Evans passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at her residence. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is assisting the family locally with arrangements.
Darlene Esther DeVries was born on December 28, 1929 in Eldora, IA, the daughter of Leonard and Ona (Rittgers) DeVries. She drove school bus for the Pleasant Valley School District and for many years worked in the maintenance department for both the Bettendorf School District and the Eldridge School District. Darlene was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved the outdoors, especially working in the yard and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by a Son: Kipp (Tammy) Evans of Marion, IA; 2 Grandchildren: Seth and Victoria; 6 Nieces and Nephews: Doug Schallau of Mesa, AZ; Rebecca Bailey of Abingdon, MD; Teresa Schallau of Zearing, IA; Mark DeVries of Bloomfield, IA; Sheila DeVries of Cedar Falls, IA; and David DeVries of Centerville, IA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bernadene and a brother, Richard.
