Daniel Rinnels

September 8, 1969 — March 12, 2018

Daniel Michael Rinnels, aged 48 of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Monday, March 12, 2018. Danny passed peacefully in his sleep following a long but brave battle with COPD.  A memorial service for Danny will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, at the Grundy Center United Methodist Church, 707 6th Street, Grundy Center, Iowa. Pastor Terry Plocher of Reinbeck UMC will officiate.  Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at 11:00.  A lunch and time of fellowship will follow the service. During the fellowship time there will be an opportunity for friends and family to speak and share stories about Danny to stir memories and laughter and joy.

Daniel Michael Rinnels, son of Kathleen and Harley Rinnels was born on September 8, 1969, in Waverly, Iowa.  He received his education at East High School in Waterloo, Iowa.  On May 24, 1997, he married Angela Welsh at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  He then worked a series of jobs until he found work as a forklift driver at Firstco in Waterloo where he worked for many years until 2015, when he was on permanent work disability due to health issues brought on by asthma and COPD.  It was at his great dismay as he loved his job and the people who worked there whom he still calls as friends.

Dan was a stoic teddy bear with a huge heart who loved his sports.  He was ecstatic this year when his beloved Eagles won the Super Bowl.  He loved his family and adored his wife, Angie, daughter Jordan, and son, Nathan.  The last three years of his life found unique time to spend with his family and to grow stronger as a family.  While he may have thought of the time as a burden it was instead a blessing that had a purpose, especially on this day.  Survivors include his wife Angie of Grundy Center, daughter Jordan of Grundy Center, stepson Nathan of Gladbrook, and daughter Bandi of Arizona.  Danny was preceded in death by his parents Kathleen and Harley Rinnels in 1992 and 1998.
