Dallas D. Kadolph, 74, of Eldora, died at his home from natural causes on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 while under the care of Hospice of North Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 17 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora with Father Paul Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Jackson Township Cemetery (Berlin Cemetery) near Owasa with military honors provided by Walter-Sayer Post 182 of the American Legion and Roll-Harless Post 3974 of the VFW. Visitation is from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with scriptural prayer services beginning at 5 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to Dallas' family or Hospice of North Iowa.
Dallas was born November 16, 1932 in Eldora, son of Ilo and Eleanor (Boeke) Kadolph. He was raised in Eldora graduating from high school with the class of 1950 then served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. On September 10, 1955 Dallas was united in marriage to Delores Brabender in Illinois. Delores died on May 21, 1979 and Dallas then married Donna R. Simmer on December 5, 1980 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Following Dallas' military service he lived and worked for a time in Illinois and Maryland before returning to Eldora to farm. In 1981 he went to work for Donco Air Products in Eldora before retiring in 1997 for health reasons. Dallas remained busy after retirement helping Gary Crosser farm and also helped at the Eldora Bowl. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and coin collecting, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Walter-Sayer Post 182 of the American Legion.
Surviving is his wife Donna; children, Kim (Ron) Babatz of Howard Lake, Minnesota, Lori (Dana) Piel of Hubbard, Tina (Tom) Peterson of St. Charles, Illinois, Lisa (Doug) Vaughn of Nevada, and Kurt (Staci) Kadolph of Ankeny; sister, Donna (Elmer) Harms of Sigourney; step-children, Lori (Mark) Gregg of Phoenix, Arizona, Marty Kirgis of Dallas, Texas, Tony (Nancy) Kirgis of Eugene, Oregon, Jamie (Lori) Kirgis of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Todd Kirgis of Lacrosse, Wisconsin, and Jon (Tina Hanson) Kirgis of Eldora; sister-in-law, Gloria Routt of Pleasant Hill; and by 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores; his parents; and a brother, Virgil.
