Dale Edward Bee, 84, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died on Saturday November 6, 2004 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 ? 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Engelkes ? Abels Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. November 9, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center with Pastor Michael Nemmers officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation or the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center.
Dale was born on February 12, 1920 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Albert and Catherine ?Sternberg? Bee. He graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1938 and also graduated from the American School if Banking in Madison, Wisconsin. Dale was united in marriage to Dorothy Smith on June 27, 1942 at the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center, Iowa. Dale started working for Grundy National Bank as a teller in 1939 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 1947; and retired in June 1985 as a Senior Vice President and in 1990 he resigned form the Board of Directors of the bank. Dale served on the Grundy Center City Council from January. 1954 to December. 1963, he was a Boy Scout advisor on the local and district levels, he was a past chairman of the local Red Cross Chapter and served as Sec. and Treas. of the Masonic Lodge, a former member of the board of Senior Citizens Housing Project, he filled all officer positions of the Grundy County Bankers Association and was involved for many years in CROP (Christian Rural Overseas Program). He also served on the Board of the Northeast Iowa Health Planning Council and was a former director of both the Reinbeck Golf Course and the Town & Country Golf Course in Grundy Center. He was a treasurer of the Grundy Center School District for many years and was Treas. for the Grundy Center Centennial Celebration.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy: three children: Daryl E. and Roben M. (Crahan) Bee of Dubuque, Iowa and Erin and Kristin; Debra D. (Bee) and John D. Wendler of Birmingham, Alabama, and Nathan and Erica; Dallas E. and Ruth Ann (Stephenson) Bee of Bloomington, Minnesota and Alexander, Sara, Laura, and Ryan; and a sister ? in ? law: Evonne bee of Tucson, Arizona
