Connie Joan McIlrath

Connie Joan (Megginson) McIlrath, 91, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 10:00 am until time of the memorial service at 11:00 am at the Cornerstone Methodist Church in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family. 

Connie was born on October 17, 1933, in Woodson, Illinois, to her parents Jesse Eugene and Phyllis Elinor (Steinmetz) Megginson. She was united in marriage to Robert J. McIlrath on February 3, 1958, in Leesville, Louisiana and from this union five wonderful children were born.

Connie enjoyed reading, developed a large vocabulary and loved crossword puzzles, crocheting, and crafts. In her younger years she was Cub Scouts Den Leader, a Girls Scouts Leader, Campfire Leader, and a 4-H Leader. Connie was a long-time member of Cornerstone Methodist Church and a member of the Federated Women’s Club. However, her true joy came from spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert; children, Jon Andrew (Marcia) McIlrath, Julie Ann (David) Stefl, Susan Jeanne (Kevin) Nordhues, Margaret Joy (Les) Parks, and Dr. Mary Joan McIlrath (Keith Berry); grandchildren, Tracy Moore, Dr. Michael Stefl, Dr. Matthew Stefl, Dr. Amanda Johnston, Bryce Nordhues, Dr. Ben Nordhues, Megan EuDaly, Michelle Unker, and Jeff Parks; fourteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings John M. Megginson and Margaret Ann Megginson Berry.
