Connie R. Barnes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, passed on August 8, 2024, at the age of 68. She was born on December 17, 1955, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to her parents, Robert and Helen Harris. Connie was surrounded by family as she peacefully passed from this world in Waterloo, Iowa.
Connie led a fulfilling life, dedicating herself to her career and family. She worked tirelessly for 30 years at N.C.M. as a quality control specialist before continuing her journey at AmericInn until her well-deserved retirement in 2019. She was known for her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic, leaving a lasting impact on all those she worked with.
Connie moved to Grundy Center in 1975, where she met her soul mate Craig Barnes, he knew he loved her when she was repelling down rock tower. They were married in Reinbeck, Iowa in 1982. People were drawn to her; she was the funniest lady in the room and so sassy. Connie protected the people she loved fiercely. With her youthful soul, to be near her was to be in the presence of someone truly spectacular. She was a woman of many talents and passions. Connie found joy in pursuing her hobbies, particularly her love for Genealogy and working on the family tree. She cherished the moments spent traveling on road trips to visit her daughter, Jacy, and her G-Babies, Erik and Alaina. Connie's free spirit and warm personality endeared her to everyone she encountered; to know her was truly to love her.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Connie's life will be held on August 16, 2024, at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center, Iowa. The service will commence at 11:00 AM, with a time for sharing memories and food will follow immediately after the service.
"Connie is survived by her devoted husband, Craig Barnes of Grundy Center, her loving children Will (Amanda) Barnes and Jacy (Dustin Smith) Barnes, (Jacy and Dustin's) Dog Bradley, her dear mother Helen Harris, her brothers Curt Harris of Fountain City, WI, Rick (Jan) Harris of Reinbeck, IA, her sister Cindy (Tom) Cody of Little Cedar, IA, and her adored grandchildren Erik and Alaina Barnes. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Harris, and her brother, Randy Joe Harris.”
She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with Connie. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In honoring Connie R Barnes, we remember a remarkable woman whose presence brought light and warmth into the lives of those around her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously gave during her time on earth.
