, 1920 in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of Marcus and Lena (Brandt) Linder. He was raised in Reinbeck and attended the Reinbeck Community Schools. On December 20, 1941, Augie was united in marriage to Eleanor Peters in Bethany, Missouri. Eleanor was from Wall Lake, Iowa. After the two were married, Augie and Eleanor made their home in Reinbeck. Augie worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement in 1985.
Augie was an avid sportsman and especially loved to boat and fish. His fall fishing trips to Canada with his brother George and close friends John Stein and Hap Show was the highlight of his year. The stories from these trips were legendary and were often repeated. He also loved to travel in his retirement years going on a cruise to Alaska and thru the Panama Canal. He was a very talented mechanic who worked for auto repair businesses on most of the downtown street corners. In looking through his treasured Snap-On tool chest, you would find drawers of hand-made tools whose use was only known to him.
He was a member of the United Congregational Church of Christ in Reinbeck and was a charter member of the Reinbeck Chapter of the Grundy County Isaac Walton League.
Surviving Augie are many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Eleanor; fives brothers Fritz, Elmer, Le Roy, Lester and George and an infant brother John; two sisters Victoria Wood, Francis Witt and an infant sister Mary.
