Clancey M. Freese, 37, of Wellsburg, formerly of Dike, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City due to natural causes. Results of an autopsy are pending with the Iowa State Medical Examiners Office. A celebration of Clancey's life will be held on Sunday, February 24th from 1 to 5 P.M. at the Dike Community Building in Dike. Per Clancey's wishes, her body has been cremated and inurnment will be private. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Clancey was born on February 20, 1975 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Billy Freese and Candace Sires. She grew up in Dike, graduating from the Dike High School with the class of 1993. After high school, Clancey attended Waldorf College in Forest City where she received her 4 year degree in criminal justice. She was also on the Waldorf College Softball team. After college, she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked as a jailer for 7 years in Hennepin County in Minnesota. She then returned home to Wellsburg and worked as a jailer in Hardin County for 2 years. She was most recently employed by the Town House in Wellsburg.
Clancey was an avid sports fan, especially softball. She loved the Minnesota Vikings and was an animal lover, especially her dog Tana. Most importantly, Clancey loved being around people. She had many friends and will be missed dearly by them, her family and all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her mother Candy Sires of Wellsburg & father Billy Freese of Dike; paternal grandmother Wilma Freese of Dike; siblings Jada Oakes, Blake Oakes, Shelby Freese & Trenton Freese; nephew Harris Oakes; special friend Travis Mead; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Clancey was preceded in death by her; maternal grandparents Vern & Roberta Sires: paternal grandfather Rich Freese; step-father Dave Oakes.
Clancey had made the selfless act to become an organ donor. She was able to donate the gift of life to many recipients.
