Christopher J. "Cjay" Roberts, 57, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with Pastor John Fuller officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial was held at the Washington Township Cemetery, rural Morrison, Iowa. French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck is serving the family of Christopher J. Roberts.
Chris was born July 18, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Russell E. and Lavon (Strohbehn) Roberts. Chris was raised and educated in Reinbeck, graduating the Reinbeck class of 1967. On December 4, 1971, Chris was united in marriage to Carolyn Redding in Waterloo, Iowa. Chris was a farmer and also was a low-boy truck driver for PCI in Reinbeck, working for them from 1992 to the present. He was a member of the Reinbeck Masonic Coin Lodge #394; and he was also a Shriner. Chris was a member of Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls, and also a member of the Prairie Lakes Men's Group. He was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck.
He is survived by wife Carolyn Roberts of Reinbeck, Iowa; four daughters Christina "Teeni" Schellhorn and her husband Trevor of Reinbeck, Iowa; Cody Bystricky and her husband Jon of Reinbeck, Iowa; Catherine Sass and her husband Andy of Urbandale, Iowa; and Cara Roberts at home; one granddaughter Lauren Bystricky; his father Russell Roberts of Reinbeck, Iowa; two brothers: Dr. Michael Roberts of Sri Lanka; Phil Roberts and his wife Judy of Dike, Iowa; two sisters: Melinda Acridge and her husband Jim of Scottsdale, Arizona; Rebecca Roberts of Dumont, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lavon Roberts; and his brother Steve Roberts.
