Charles Marion Shore, 89, of Eldora, died at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa, on Wednesday March 5, 2008.
Charles was born January 11, 1919, in Lawn Hill, Iowa, the son of William and Ida (Vestal) Shore. He graduated from New Providence High School in 1937. Charles served his country During WWII in the United States Navy as a SeeBee serving in Trinidad, Hawaii and the Philippines. On June 1, 1941 he was united in marriage to Ruth Margaret Smith by the Rev. Dewey Lamprecht at the parsonage. Charles owned and operated Shore construction and later Shore Farm Drainage for 40 years. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora. He was an Eldora City Council member for 8 years and was a life member of the V.F.W and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include a son Joe Shore and his wife Charlene of Eldora, Iowa, a daughter Beth and her husband Tom Rathe of Eldora, Iowa and a son Randall Shore of Eldora, Iowa, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, a brother Boyd Shore and his wife Vivian of Ohio, several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife Ruth, parents, and two sisters Ruth Shore Moon and Helen Shore Williams.
