Charles “Chuck” Lawler, 64, of Union, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary’s Campus in Rochester, Minnesota surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldora, Iowa with a scripture service beginning at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldora, Iowa. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the Lawler family for a charity of their choosing.
Charles Michael Lawler, son of Lewis and Mary (Schafer) Lawler was born on July 3, 1953 in Eldora, Iowa. He received his education in New Providence, Iowa graduating from New Providence High School in 1971. Following high school, Chuck attended Ellsworth Community College where he earned his associates degree in 1973. On June 23, 1984 he married Donna McCoy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldora. Chuck was a 4th generation farmer on the family farm and also owned and operated Lawler Trucking. He also farmed for several years with his son Paden. Chuck was a past board member of the South Hardin Recreation Area, a former member of the Eldora Jaycees where he was past president and regional director, and was an elected Union Township Trustee. Chuck was a man of few hobbies, other than being active with his son and grandson’s lives. He enjoyed farming, trucking, and collecting John Deere toy tractors.
Those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Donna M. Lawler of Union; son, Paden (Heather) Lawler also of Union; grandsons, Wade and Owen Lawler; sisters, Barb (Harlan) Hanson of Ames, Cathy (Reid) Richards of Bloomington, IL; brothers, Paul Lawler of Union, Thomas (Elaine) Lawler of Waverly; uncle, Richard (Mary Lou) Lawler of Eldora; brother-in-law, Jerry (Linda) McCoy of Union; sister-in-law, Janice (Leonard) Tranbarger of Conrad; and 12 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Donna R. Lawler.
