Charlene Sapp

August 29, 1951 — March 11, 2006

Charlene J. Sapp, 54, of Eldora, Iowa died from natural causes on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 14 at the Eldora United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Eldora City Cemetery. Charlene's family will be receiving friends on Monday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the family.



She was born August 29, 1951 in Marshall, Minnesota, daughter of Howard and Betty (Heinis) Swanson. Charlene graduated from Marshall High School in 1969 then attended nursing school in Mitchell, South Dakota receiving her LPN license. In 1971 she was married to Mark Claeys in Mitchell, and to this union was born a son, Mark. They were later divorced. While in Marshall, Charlene work for 28 years at REM Corporation, a group home for mentally challenged adults. She also served with the Red Cross in Marshall, and for 24 years as a CPR instructor for recertification. After retirement from REM Corporation she worked for the Marshall Hy-Vee for a few years then relocated to Eldora in 2003. She worked for the Eldora Hy-Vee until April of 2004 when she returned to nursing at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center. On August 28, 2004 Charlene was united in marriage to Ronald D. Sapp at Circle Point, Pine Lake State Park in Eldora.



Charlene was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church. She bowled for many years serving as president of the Marshall Women's Bowling League, and continued to bowl in the Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling League, for the Weathered Wheel, while in Eldora. She also loved to camp and fish with her husband, Ron and they had their own special camping spot at Pine Lake State Park.



Surviving Charlene is her husband, Ron; parents, Betty and Howard of Marshall, Minnesota; her son, Mark Claeys Jr. of Minnesota, sister, Myia (Allen) Sanow of Wenatchee, Washington; brother, William "Bill" Swanson of Carrollton, Texas; two grandchildren; and by many nieces, nephews and friends.
