Charlene Bartsch, 68, of Eldora, Iowa, died at her home on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Eldora United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard Boatman officiating. Visitation is from 5 pm -7 pm on Sunday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Charlene was born September 16, 1939 in Windom, Minnesota, daughter of Henry J. and Vivian L. (Olson) Johnson. She attended Walnut Grove Country School then graduated from St. Charles High School in 1957. On January 6, 1959 Charlene was united in marriage to Leroy Bartsch and they made their home in Eldora.
She worked at Infanseat Corporation in Eldora for a time prior to graduating from cosmetology school in 1977. She worked as a beautician the remainder of her life operating Shear Artistry Salon in Eldora. She also worked for Swift Inc. of Marshalltown for 10 years and at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown for the last 18 months.
Charlene was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church and she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cross-stitching, and collecting bells. She was an avid Elvis fan.
Surviving are her children, Diane Stegan of Minnesota, Brenda Anderson of Alabama, Bryan Bartsch of Eldora and his wife Rose, Christine Bartsch of Marshalltown, Julie Helfriech, and Tim Bartsch of Eldora; brother, Larry Johnson of Hollister, Missouri and his wife Kathy, and by 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Arvin Johnson.
