C. Marie Ennenga, 70, of Holland, Iowa, died Friday, November 10, 2006, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland, Iowa, with Pastor Larry Hoop and Pastor Larry Doughan officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, November 13, 2006, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice-Grundy Center, or to the Covenant Cancer Center.
Marie was born February 19, 1936, in Marble Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Karl and Dorothy Ruby (Nixt) Hayungs. She received her education in rural country schools in northeast Iowa. The family then moved to Patch Grove, Wisconsin, and she was graduated from Patch Grove High School. On August 10, 1955, Marie was united in marriage to Donald Eilt Ennenga at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage, they made their home in Holland, Iowa, where Marie was a stay at home mom until her children were grown. Marie then worked at the Spokesman Press and then became employed by the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in the Dietary Department. She worked there for fifteen years, retiring in 1998. Marie was a member of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church and also worked as their librarian for twenty three years. On October 15, 2006, Marie was honored by the church for her many years of dedicated service. Marie loved working in her flower garden, doing needle point and reading.
She is survived by her husband Donald Ennenga of Holland, Iowa; two sons Keith Ennenga of San Francisco, California; Michael Ennenga and his special friend Maura Boland of Traverse City, Michigan; one daughter Julie Englert and her husband Jon of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren Cassy and Abby Ennenga of Sandpoint, Idaho; three sisters Francys Harms and her husband Bernerd of Wellsburg, Iowa; Carol Smith and her husband Gary of Lincoln, Iowa; Karla Hayungs of Waterloo, Iowa; and one sister-in-law Maxine Hayungs of Holland, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers Frank Hayungs and Earl Hayungs.
