Burkley James Shane, 20, of Dike, Iowa, died following a snowmobile accident on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dike, Iowa, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a Scriptural Wake Service at 4:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at 1:30 P.M., at the Dike-New Hartford High School Gymnasium in Dike, Iowa, with Father Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. A time of food and fellowship will follow the burial at the Fox Ridge Golf Course Clubhouse in Dike. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.

Burkley James Shane, was born August 6, 1986, in Rockledge, Florida, the son of Terry Lee and Angela Mary (Lewer) Shane. Burkley graduated from the Dike-New Hartford High School in Dike, with the Class of 2005. He worked as a Car Sales Representative at Dan Deery Motor Company in Cedar Falls. Burkley loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had lots of energy and especially loved driving four-wheelers, snowmobiles, and cars. Burkley had often been told that he had a million dollar smile. He had always said that family was always number one to him. He was loyal to the core. Burkley was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church-Holy Family Parish in Dike.

He is survived by his parents Terry and Angela Shane of Dike, Iowa; two brothers Lucas Lee Shane of Dike, Iowa; and Austin Oliver Shane of Dike, Iowa; maternal grandparents James and LaDonna Lewer of Iowa Falls, Iowa; paternal grandmother Lorae Wilson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; paternal great-grandparents Vernon and Irene Ingalls of Sheldon, Iowa; uncle Steve Shane and his wife Kim of Iowa Falls, Iowa; uncle James Lewer II and his wife Jennifer of Merritt Island, Florida; uncle Mike Lewer and his wife Detra of Lompoc, California; uncle Jack Lewer and his wife Penny of Iowa Falls, Iowa; aunt Judy Hanson and her husband Dennis of Alden, Iowa; aunt Carol Shane of Merritt Island, Florida; aunt JoBeth Lewer of Fairfield, Iowa; aunt Regina Shane of Cape Canaveral, Florida; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Robert Shane.
