Brenda McAllister

Brenda McAllister, age 93 passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Eldora Specialty Care in Eldora, Iowa. At her request, there will be no visitation as she will be cremated and returned to the nature of the earth she loved. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eldora. There will be a Rosary Service held at 10:00 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Hardin County Food Bank or St. Mary Catholic Church. Abels Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family in arrangements.

Brenda was born on August 22, 1926 in Upper Pleasley, Nottinghamshire, England, to Owen Cooper Richardson and Gladys Beecroft Richardson. She had a younger brother Geoffrey Richardson.

Brenda came to America at 21 years of age, married Larry McAllister on February 7, 1955 and became a U.S. citizen on October 15, 1956 with her parents and husband all at the same time. Brenda and Larry traveled extensively throughout the U.K., Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Hawaii, Suva, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and many states. After Larry passed away in 1980, she lived in Los Angeles, California and later came to Iowa with her son Richard in 1993. Brenda enjoyed her church family and participated in many Bible study groups as well as St. Mary’s Ladies PM Group.

Brenda is survived by her sons Richard Warren (Pam) and Rogan McAllister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cooper and Gladys Richardson; brother Geoffrey Richardson and husband Larry McAllister.
