Billie Jean Mulligan

Billie Jean Mulligan, 81 of Reinbeck, Iowa passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 peacefully at home. A celebration on her life, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

Billie was born October 19, 1942, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Dickenson) Criswell. Billie graduated from Grinell High School in 1960. She groomed dogs for over 20 years and retired as a CNA.

On October 23, 1960, Billie married Richard R. Mulligan at the Methodist Church in Tama. They were married for 63 years and raised 3 children. She had 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, with one on the way. Billie loved to camp, square dance, make quilts, bake, but most of all spend time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Cindy Criswell, sister-in-law, Jane Criswell, nephew, Patrick Criswell, and a grandchild, Kylie Hock. Billie is survived by her husband, Richard R. Mulligan, children; Darren (Tammy) Mulligan of Dysart, Valerie Plaehn (Matt Kerr) of Allison, Michelle (Neal) Walters of Reinbeck, brothers; Dick Criswell of Tennessee, Ron (Bev) Criswell of West Liberty, grandchildren, Preston (Allison) Gibbons, Kayla (Karl) Schlotterback, Mariah (Jeremy) Fuller, Alivia Mulligan, Tabitha Jamerson, Annastasia (Derrick) Hock, Jacob (Kiana Oldenburger) Walters, Aidan Walters, great grandchildren; Nolan and Ivy Gibbons, Kyra, Koraline and Kreedence Schlotterback, Holden and Hazelyn Fuller, Nilssen Bales, Jaxon, Sophia, and Aubrey Hock, with one on the way.
