Beverly Ann Schmidt, 75, of Vinton, formerly of Reinbeck, passed away on Tuesday, October 18th at the Vinton Lutheran Home in Vinton, Iowa. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 29th at 1:30 PM at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck. Memorials may be directed to the family. The French-Hand Funeral home of Reinbeck is caring for Bev and her family.
Bev was born on May 10, 1941, at home in Reinbeck, the daughter of Vertus & Mildred (Lovstad) Schmidt. She grew up in the area of her birth where she was educated, and graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1959.
She worked in Waterloo, Iowa from 1960 to 1966 as a draftsman and engineering secretary before spending 26 years at Beam Incorporated in Dike, Iowa until 1988 when the business was sold. She then purchased Clothes Encounters in Reinbeck with her sister Kathy and went out of business in 1992 with failing health.
In 1995, she moved with her sister Kathy and her husband Don Meyer to a house on Hillcrest Drive and in 1999, they moved to Walker, Iowa, and later, to Vinton, Iowa.
Bev is preceded in death by her parents, Vertus & Mildred; maternal grandparents August & Ellen (Jensen) Lovstad and paternal grandparents Emil and Johanna (Petersen) Schmidt. She is survived by her sisters Karla (Bob) Burrell of rural Traer, Iowa and Kathy (Don) Meyer of Vinton, IA; nephews Steve (Shari) Burrell and their sons Josh & Jordan Burrell of Paton, IA, Dave Burrell of rural Dysart, IA and Dan (Stephanie) Meyer of Toledo, IA and his son Cody (Bailey) Hamilton of Traer, IA; nieces Kim Burrell of Atkins, IA and Laura (Tracy) Bollin and their daughters Jessica & Kaitlyn of Indianola, IA.
